<hi style=afpcap>The Army purchased a number of commercial airliner and trainer types for evaluation during the latter part of the thirties decade. Amongst these was the Lockheed Model 10 Electra light transport which were designated the Y1C-36 and Y1C-37. Subsequently the Y1 prefix was dropped. The Army did not place any additional orders for the type although several civilian owned Electras were drafted into service, becoming UC-36 and -37 to signify their utility role.</hi>
